NexCen Brands Inc. announced today that Peter Som, the creative director that we all thought was out the door at Bill Blass , has not resigned after all, but instead of a runway show he will bel presenting the spring 2009 collection to retailers only.
In a statement the company said.”Nexcen very much looks forward to working with Peter as his continued creative direction during this period of transition is important to the future of the brand and its sales process.”
Problems between Som and owners of Bill Blass have been developing for some time now, mainly due to NexCen’s inability to provide financial support for Som’s vision for the business.
According to Women’s Wear Daily there is more to come on this revolving door story. So stay tuned!

Paper doll fashion red dress
Author: Vesselina / Category: Drawings and Pictures
Here’s another paper dress I cut out today. I even made a cardboard model to put the dress on. It’s not the hottest looking design. Probably wouldn’t sell out if it would even get picked up by any retail outlet.
My cardboard doll looks kind of weird I know. Her hands are way too long.
So how do you like the dress. I made it by cutting a red card stock letter sized paper into quarters. I then took one of the quarters and folded it in half, then I cut out the dress from the folded half. Afterward I used some chewing gum to stick the dress on my cardboard model because I didn’t have glue. Besides the chewing gum will make it easier for me to remove the dress so I won’t have to make a new cardboard model when I’m ready to do another dress.
After I put the dress on the model I scanned it; then I used the picture tube in paint shop pro to put the button design.
Originally the dress had long sleeves but they didn’t look good so I cut them off.
It’s not as nice as the bridesmaids dress I did earlier today I can admit.
Maybe a bridesmaid’s dress?

How do you like this dress I’ve designed? I don’t really know what to call it. I drew it last night and played around with it in paint shop pro this morning. I wasn’t really going for any particular style. Just freehand drawing a dress and that’s what I came up with. Not sure the color and the designs around the neck, waist and sleeves are exactly right for a bridesmaid dress but it looks like it would have to be a formal dress if it were ever made into a real dress. Too much poufy skirt for anything not formal I think. Read more…
