A bevy of starlets came out to celebrate the launch of Piaget’s Paris-New York Limelight collection Thursday night. The party, co-hosted by Vogue, was held at 620 Fifth Avenue in a Rockefeller Center penthouse. While the brand’s glittering and expensive baubles were on display inside, everyone gatered on the venue’s outdoor grassy patio. “Do you think I can get past security and just sneak up here on my own sometime?” asked an awed Zoe Kravitz. “I’ll bring a tent and camp out.”
Becki Newton, who recently relocated to Manhattan to shoot her show “Ugly Betty” seemed content in the concrete jungle. “I bought my dress right over there,” the actress said, pointing down Fifth Avenue to the Gucci flagship. “Everyone here has been saying, I can’t believe you actually own the dress you’re wearing.’ But why wouldn’t I want to?”

New York Hotel Fashion Show Turns Catty

The catwalk was actually a catwalk on Thursday when show cats dressed in everything from an Elvis costume to a sequined satin dress were strutting their stuff at New York’s Algonquin Hotel.
The feline fashion show unfolded in the dining room where Dorothy Parker presided over famously catty Round Table literary luncheons in the 1920s.
Thursday’s show benefited an animal welfare group and honored Matilda, the Algonquin’s resident cat, who just turned 13.
She is the hotel’s ninth cat since the tradition started in the ’30s, when actor John Barrymore dubbed a bedraggled stray Hamlet.

Friday’s Freaky Fashion: China’s Idea of Fashion

This is only a sample of the strange and freaky designs by Chinese fashion institute graduates during a fashion show in Beijing, China, last year. The Chinese capital hosted the 10th China Fashion week which showcased original designs from across a country often criticized for producing cheap knock offs of designer goods. If this is what they come up with, no wonder they have to copy designers.

Diet Coke is heading out in style for women’s fashion week in Milan at the end of this September.
Designer Roberto Cavalli dressed up the hourglass bottles in three different fashionable sleeves featuring his traditional animal spots and stripes.
These are really cute. Too bad we won’t be finding them here in the states. The limited edition bottles will only be available in Italy for a few short months this fall. Cavalli likens his designs for the curvy Coke bottles to that of creating dresses, making them, “seductive and feminine, in typical Cavalli style.”
