Because I enjoyed the music when I stumbled across this website quite by accident I’ve decided to make it my first fashion spotlight post. Hadn’t ever heard of Rich Yung; but then it’s not uncommon not to have heard about a designer of “urban” couture. The hip hop culture is treated with so much scorn and disregard in all industries, except possibly for the music industry, but maybe not even in the music industry. It’s quite interesting to see how young Black men are widely disrespected because of how they dress. It goes back to the argument that fashion makes a statement.

But at the end of the day someone has to put the idea out there that a style of dressing can corrupt society. So how did the idea that hip hop fashion is deviant take shape and spread so far and wide throughout society? Why doesn’t the same notion take shape when White designers create similar lines of clothing?
